New Dance Programs Beginning February 2008 at SVCC!
SVCC is pleased to offer community dance classes led by Gina Mento. With a degree in dance from Radford University, Gina has been teaching dance for eight years, as well as performing with professional companies and directing two dance companies of her own.
Creative Dance
Ages: 3 – 6
Tuesdays 4:30 – 5:15 p.m.
February 19 – April 8 (performance April 8)
Cost: $110
Students will explore many different ways of stretching and using their bodies. They are encouraged to use their imagination through the movement of their bodies.
Jazz/HipHop
Ages: 7 – 11
Thursdays 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Ages: 11 – Adult
Thursdays 7 – 8 p.m.
February 21 – April 10 (performance April 10)
Cost: $110
Students will learn the basic movements suitable for their age group similar to the dance steps found on High School Musical, You Got Served and MTV.
Lyrical Dance
Ages 7 – Adult
Saturdays 3 – 4 p.m.
February 23 – May 3 (No class March 1, March 22 and April 19. Performance May 3)
Cost: $110
Students will learn lyrical dance which is a combination of slow jazz and ballet that shows expression through songs with words.
Ballroom Dance
Adult couples
Saturdays 4 – 5 p.m.
February 23 – May 3 (No class March 1, March 22 and April 19. Ball Dance May 3)
Cost: $150
Couples will learn the Fox Trot, Cha-Cha, Merengue, and Country Line Dancing. The last class will be a Ball Dance where couples can dress up and show what they’ve learned!
A $35 non-refundable registration fee is due when you register in addition to the individual class fee. Enrollment is limited so please register early. For more information, call 610-838-0722.
